Welcome to Cambridge Functional Nutrition! I'm Dorentina Bexheti and I wear multiple hats – a Pharmacokineticist, a lecturer in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the proud founder of this transformative space where health meets passion.

My journey has been a dynamic blend of academia and industry. Beginning with a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, I dove into the world of Clinical Drug Research and Development, collaborating with industry giants like GlaxoSmithKline and LGC. The journey then led me to the prestigious University of Cambridge, where my focus was on cancer research and pharmacokinetics.

Life took an unexpected turn during my maternity leave after the arrival of my second child. Battling chronic pneumonia for six months was an ordeal that changed everything. Amid doctor visits, hospital stays, and the accompanying stress, a diagnosis of coeliac disease marked a turning point. This pivotal moment ignited a deep-seated desire to help people in a different, more meaningful way.

With a strong scientific background, a love for culinary arts, and a profound passion for guiding individuals to their optimal state of health and well-being, I found my calling in Nutritional Therapy and Functional Medicine. Twelve years into academia, I decided to deepen my knowledge by completing a degree with the highly respected Institute of Optimum Nutrition, re-qualifying as a registered Nutritional Therapist.

Why the dual role? Because it's essential to me to practice evidence-based, scientifically grounded, root-cause medicine that delivers tangible results in the real world. Currently, I practice as a Functional Nutritional Therapist while also wearing my pharmacokineticist hat.

My unique blend of experiences allows me to provide excellent nutritional recommendations. My understanding of drug interactions and how substances move within the body equips me to analyzs how nutrients affect individuals uniquely. This knowledge enables me to tailor recommendations based on an individual's physiological responses, optimising health outcomes and avoiding potential interactions with medications.

Join me on this personal and transformative journey at Cambridge Functional Nutrition, where health is not just a destination but a beautifully crafted narrative, uniquely yours. Together, let's achieve outstanding clinical outcomes and change lives for the better.
